Abstract
We discuss dynamo action in convective layers very close to the surface of OB and A stars. Fields produced in these regions can reach the stellar surface via magnetic buoyancy. This might explain the weak magnetic fields found in the A stars and the intriguing surface phenomena of OB stars.
